Has anyone chosen on-site disposal over off-site processing?

We're reviewing options for on-site IT equipment disposal and trying to determine whether it's the better choice compared to transporting assets to a third-party facility. The added security and chain-of-custody benefits seem appealing, especially for sensitive hardware.
